Project Goals: Create a brand identity for an upcoming Winnipeg festival. Make several promotional media for the festival.
The solution incorporates enough past Folk Festival themes to be recognizable, but also adds enough new elements to look fresh and exciting.
The design uses a pleasing analogous colour scheme inspired by folk art. The colours are bright to reflect folk festival fun as well as summer, the season the festival takes place in. The separate images which make up the brand graphics can easily be re-arranged to create a new look for each promotional material.
The information is organised, grouped, and visually distinct making it easy for the viewer to process and use.
Casual fonts are often used to promote folk festivals which served as inspiration for the logo. The typeface Blackcurrent Squash is casual, distinct and fun. The “o” was made to look like the sun because Folk Festival is a summer festival
